Artist Statement:

I wanted to create a book that highlights the quiet beauty I find in the prairie at a time of year when many people find it unimpressive or simply a collection of dead grasses. Taking the grasses out of their natural habitat, separating them out as individuals and placing them on intimate display is a way to spotlight their individual beauty. When the book is closed, the prairie grasses overlap and create a personal prairie experience, but when extended, it allows the reader a close examination of each species as an individual among the masses.
